About

Music is communication… pure & simple. Some are better at communicating than others. Few vocalists sound as comfortably natural as Caribbean Music’s crowned “Calypso King” Vern Roberts. In 1973, Vern competed against the best artists in the Calypso Music field at the Lionel Roberts Stadium in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands. He walked away with the highest honor. Flash forward to 2014. Vern Roberts has released his latest collection of music, the outstanding Caribbean Praise – an 11-song marathon of solid, mid-tempo, island grooves that give all the glory to God from start to finish. Vern’s biggest strength can be summed up in two words: Comfortable Consistency. Robert’s delivery is so effortless that the listener might just forget they are being ministered to, and start reaching for the sunscreen, which is not a bad thing at all. There are no real musical surprises here. Just mid-tempo Calypso gold delivered to your ears by a passionate man of God. Roberts is absolutely at his best during “O Give Thanks” – a tune worthy of becoming a Praise & Worship classic, with a tropical twist of course. Other standout tracks include “Friend,” “Overcomer” and the appropriately titled “Balm.”
